Project 5 Task 1

The first and perhaps largest benefit of blogging is that it gives students a voice. In my classroom every year there are always a handful of students who never raise their hand and contribute to the class discussion. These end up being the students who have something valuable to contribute to the class discussion.

The next benefit of having student participate in a blog is that it gives them a chance to work on their writing skills.  Each school year my team consists of about 100 students. Usually only about 25 of those 100 students really enjoy the process of writing. Blogging gives the students to really enjoy the act of writing about their viewpoints and the subject that they truly enjoy. According to a site in out text (L. Jackson, 2011) students will write more, write in greater detail, and take greater care with spelling, grammar, and punctuation, when they are writing to an authentic audience over the internet.
